UEFA Football & Social Responsibility programme

UEFA has real enthusiasm to drive forward the process of managing the economic, social and environmental impacts of European football, thereby contributing to sustainable development in society.

Each year €5m is invested in UEFA’s football and social responsibility (FSR) partnership portfolio. Partner organisations benefit from financial, in-kind and media support as well as the transfer of knowledge. There were also indirect beneficiaries who attended conferences and workshops organised by UEFA and its partners.

UEFA directly supports EPFA through the Football for All Abilities objective. This supports a group of five organisations to increase playing opportunities for footballers of all abilities at grassroots level across Europe:

  • European Powerchair Football Association (EPFA)
  • Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia (SOEE)
  • Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA)
  • International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA)
  • European Deaf Sport Organisation (EDSO)

The UEFA support is based around 4 elements of EPFA's activities:

  • Administrative and financial
  • Technical and sporting
  • Development and promotion
  • Training and quality assessment

“Powerchair football has permitted many young disabled people to play sport and meet other people. When they play powerchair football, they completely forget their disabilities.”
